As you may know, we had a bench, and a BLM bench in our trail system, and they were stolen this past spring 2017. We found the BLM bench, but the BTC bench was never recovered. This will not hinder our efforts however. We will be able to not only replace the first bench, but install a second bench as well. BLM is planning to replace their bench also, to make a total of three new benches!
We will meet at the trail head at on Saturday, October 21st, 10 a.m.!
Bring gloves and a smile!
Join us September 13th at the Depot Theater for a meeting to discuss a proposal for a new walk/bike trail along Noble Avenue from Skihi Street to High Way 41. the Noble Avenue trail.
The proposed trail will provide a safe and enjoyable connection with existing segments in Dillon and the surrounding area. Input from the meeting will be used to finalize the conceptual design for the trail and develop cost estimates. This work is funded by generous grants from our local United Way and the LOR Foundation and will make proposals to fund detailed engineering and construction possible.
All members of the community are welcome at the meeting, or may comment via BTC’s website or in writing (see below). For more information on the project, go to Trail Connectivity.
The noxious weeds on the high trails are taking over and we need your help! Join us on Saturday, August 26th for some good old fashioned pulling of weeds. Meet at the Dillon Town Overlook Trailhead at 9 a.m., and we will pull until noon. Sleep in and head on up!
The USFS is working on a project to restore Wildflower Trail on Lemhi Pass this summer. They will be hosting a trail work week on July 24-28th, with the National Smoke Jumpers and would love to have your help! All meals will be provided!
Volunteers are welcome at any time on any of those days, or for multiple days and set up a tent!
Please fill out the meal sheet on when you plan on coming so the cook can plan accordingly. Once we have a volunteer group form, Dan Downey, our President will send that in as well. This form will cover any injuries that could occur when working on the trail, (although we anticipate zero!). Trail work includes clearing down fall, doing on tread work, etc. You can send the form back to Bill Kolar (address on the page), or scan and send to firstname.lastname@example.org. They need to know of food by July 3rd, so please plan ahead!
This is a fun and unique opportunity to help out the USFS, and get some great trail building experience that we can bring back to our own trails. Hope to see you there!
