This 1-mile round trip hiking trail starts west of Dillon and takes users to a higher vantage point to view town. Not only can users see the Dillon valley, but also the surrounding Pioneer, Blacktail, Ruby, Tobacco Root, and Highland Mountain Ranges.

To reach the trailhead head west from town on Ten Mile Road adjacent to the Beaverhead River. As the road splits from the river and briefly heads north look for the Trailhead sign on your right.

The trail system is currently limited to the overlook area, but will soon be the basis for the High Trails Project, encompassing 1100 acres of rangeland, multiple trailheads, and miles of additional trails.

Notable Community Support:

The Wheat Family provided an easement for a segment of the trail to pass through their land to reach the ridge.

The United Way of Beaverhead County has provided $2,000 for the project. Among other things these funds were used for the construction and installation of the trailhead sign.

2014 University of Montana Western Student Work Day-Over 30 students with 10 community leaders provided 150 volunteer hours maintaining trail, re-vegetating areas with native seeds, and building fence.

Beaverhead County provided labor and materials to build the trailhead parking lot.
