PIGTAIL TRAIL CONNECTOR and owen ditch bridge

The Pigtail Trail is a walking and biking path on the west side of Dillon near the YMCA.  The Beaverhead Trails Coalition (BTC) applied for and received a Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant to extend the YMCA trail to West Jefferson Street (see map). The RTP funds are a part of the Federal Highway Trust Fund, administered by the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Department in Montana. The $24,000 grant was used to create a 600 foot gravel connector-trail and build a 60 ft. bridge over Owen's Ditch. The completion of this trail created another link in the local trail system as part of the BTC Connectivity Program.

BTC completed the Pigtail Connector Trail and Owen Ditch Bridge in October of 2016, with a final staining of the bridge, and the path and bridge are now used regularly.

The work was accomplished thanks to the MFWP, and our members and volunteers.
